Purposes for letters To inform: An example of this are the letters that schools send home to parents to let them know about something that is going to happen in school. To complain: If you go into a shop and are sold something that is out of date you may send a letter of complaint to the company and request compensation. To persuade: These letters are used to persuade someone to do something. You may give them

We have enough time left to write one letter each week before the end of this term. This week we are going to start by writing a letter to persuade. Your challenge is to write a letter to Miss Mollett to persuade her to let you have longer play times in the morning. In order to be able to write a good persuasive letter, you must plan exactly what you are going to say so that your argument is clear and flows well. This is your chance to show off to Miss Mollett

When you have thought of your reasons, decided which paragraph each of your reasons will be explained in. You will be writing 4 paragraphs in total.

This is not something that we would ever normally do when writing as usually we write from the margin. On your piece of paper please lay out the school address in the top right hand corner as I have shown on the next slide.
