Year 2 English Home Learning Week beginning 29 th June 2020
Monday 29 th June - SPAG revision Today we will be reviewing the different SPAG activities we have done over the last few weeks. Complete the SPAG revision mats – there are 6 questions on each mat that will practise a different skill.
Tuesday 30 th June - Nonsense Poetry Today we will be continuing to look at poetry. The poem for today is a nonsense poem. This means that it doesn’t really make any sense and is silly! To start with we will be looking at the poem ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’ by Spike Milligan. This is a poem we would usually look at in Year 2. Click on the video to listen to the poem and see what it is talking about.
Tuesday 30 th June - Nonsense Poetry Nonsense poetry does not always make sense. Poets will use made-up words alongside real words, and talk about made-up things like imaginary creatures. It’s lots of fun to read and is usually very silly! Activity: 1. Can you listen to or read the poem and make a list of all the nonsense words that the poet uses. 2. Complete the imaginary words sheet and create your own nonsense words with their own definition.
Wednesday 1 st July - Nonsense Poetry What is a nonsense poem? Today we will be looking at a different nonsense poem that is taken from 'Alice in Wonderland' by Lewis Caroll. 'The Walrus and the Carpenter'

Friday 3 rd July LI: To use our senses to describe an environment Today and next week we are going to use the poem ‘So much more than just a race’ and our previous poetry knowledge to create our own F 1 racing poems. Ours will be a little different as we will be using our senses to describe things around or on the racetrack. ‘Driving round the racetrack…’ But first…. what are the 5 senses?
