homophone same sound Homophones are words that are spelled differently, have different meanings yet sound the same.
Monday 22 nd June- there, their and they’re Even though all 3 of these words sound the same, they are all spelt differently and of course have different meanings. Each one is used for a seperate purpose. The little images in the spelling can help to remind you which is correct for each purpose. The ‘i’ in their is a little person – so it belongs to someone The ‘r’ in there is an arrow – showing direction to a place The ‘ in they’re is because its a contract for they are.

Can you spot and correct my writing? my walk with my parnents This weekend on saturday i went with Ben and lily to see my mum and dad for a socially distanced wallk. WE went to stowe because it was ment to be nice weather. when we got there we hadd to wayt to be allowd into the car park. The sun was shining and their were lots of sheep in the fields with they’re lambs. lily had lots fof fun playing hide and seec with hergrandad. After the walk we had an ice creem and sat in the sunshine. It was very hot! I had a chocolate ice cream because there my favourite!

You do not have to perform them to lots of people BUT reading a poem aloud helps you to hear how it should be read and what it is about. Then. . . We would like you to choose the poem you liked the most and review it. What did you like about it? What is the poem about? Does it rhyme?
What are rhyming words? Friday 26 th June 2020 LI: To identify rhyme Some poems have rhyming words in them. This is when words have the same sound in them. 'Cheese' and 'peas' both have the same sound. You can write rhyming poems by using pairs or groups of words that use the same sounds.

Choose a different colour for each rhyming pair. Remember that reading the poem out loud will help you to recognise words that rhyme and have the same sound but perhaps do not have the same spelling.
