2021: Challenges Responding to COVD-19 pandemic: • Missed schooling from March to July: –

2021: Challenges Responding to COVD-19 pandemic: • Missed schooling from March to July: – Each school subject has written a curriculum plan which enables students to complete their course. • Changes to school routines: – Year 11 have been prioritised with timings of the school day, lesson accommodation and break/lunch arrangements, • Potential future loss to school time: – We have plans to provide as much content as possible via a range online platforms; Show My Homework / GCSE Pod / Mathswatch – Teachers will stay in touch with students via Show My Homework, email and where application Zoom • Changes to the 2021 exam season: – Df. E and Ofqual are currently investigating whether to move the examination window until later in the summer term. There is currently no update on this but we will inform students / parents immediately if any change is made.

2021: Challenges Reformed GCSEs in all subjects: • Increased content • Less controlled assessment work • More examinations • 9 -1 grading system embedding • Grade 5 now regarded as the ‘strong pass’ and Grade 4 a ‘standard’ pass

It’s not just about… The 4 or 5 grade… Students have a range of targets from grade 3 / Pass up to grade 9 / Distinction* English and Maths…. • These are key qualifications for progress to further study and apprenticeships. • However, it is important for students that they achieve a range of qualifications. • All other subjects are worth 6 GCSEs.

Intervention & Support • Specialist English, maths and science forms in Year 11 • After school intervention every week for core subjects: – – – Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday Maths English Science French Options subjects • Timetabled intervention lessons • Walking talking mock examinations, which are used to develop exam technique. • At exam time, scheduled revision sessions in the school day for each subject prior to exam. • Year 11 mocks exams last week before Christmas.
