What can your son do in September 2019? He can continue his education: At Bayside School At the Gibraltar College At Westside School He can seek employment
If he or she stays at Bayside…… He can: Start a one year programme Study 2, 3 or 4 A levels What he will do will ultimately depend on the results he gets in August!
One Year Programme at Bayside Some students who have always given of their best may not achieve grade 4/C or above in August 2021. Some of these students may benefit from a further year here at Bayside School. These students will be invited to stay on and repeat some of their GCSEs
The aims of this programme are: To increase the number of qualifications which your son has To develop his employability skills To develop his citizenship skills To broaden his experience
Entry Requirements At least grade 2 in English, Maths and Science A good Attendance and Behaviour Record A commitment to: complete a period of work experience. produce evidence of their achievements in a portfolio.
Curriculum Subject Level Lessons English GCSE 4 Maths GCSE 4 Science GCSE 4 ICT - Nationals Level 1 and 2 4 Certificate of Personal Effectiveness GCSE B Grade Equivalent 6
Two or Three A Level courses…. To follow Two (2) A Level courses a minimum of Four (4) GCSE grade 5 or C passes or higher must have been achieved. To follow Three (3) A Level courses a minimum of Five (5) GCSE grade 5 or C passes or higher must have been achieved. Preferably, including English and Mathematics. 3 A Levels is the typical diet for A Level students. Some may cope better with 2 A Levels
Specific Entry Requirements Different subjects have different entry requirements e. g. Chem/Bio/Phys – Combined Science Further Mathematics – GCSE Level 7 These need to be carefully checked in the Yr 12 Options Booklet. Entry requirements Post-18 also need to be checked!
Four A Level courses A minimum of Six (6) GCSE grade 6 or B passes or higher must have been achieved However, in our experience only students with exceptional GCSE grades ( 7 -9) can cope with this.
Two equals one! For every 2 Grade 5 or Cs at GCSE, 1 subject at A level can be studied. Students must study at least two subjects at A level.
Subjects on Offer *These subjects will not offer AS Level examination. They are 2 Year A Level courses, examined in 2023 Please note: History of Art and Dance are taught at Westside School. Applied Business, Accounting, IT and Psychology are Consortium Subjects taught at the Gibraltar College. Economics, Music and Drama & Theatre Studies can be timetabled at either Westside or Bayside.

Expectations of all Year 12 & 13 students They will be expected to sign a 6 th form Code of Conduct- some points form this include: Attendance – 85% or more is need for application for government funding. Independent study is expected. Wearing the school uniform is essential. Setting an example in behaviour is non-negotiable.
The Survey……The Form This survey will help us to organise our timetable and options columns for next year. Although at this stage all choices are INTENDED……they need to be well thought out! Must be handed in by Friday 23 rd April 2021

In August They will receive results and make decisions. They will be given instructions in your results pack to apply to further courses. We will be available to help after results ( clinic date to be confirmed). They can apply to do the A Level OR the Repeat course They must read entry requirements before applying. They will need to apply through Google Classroom The application form online. They must meet the deadline. They will be advised if you need an interview to discuss your application on Google Classroom.
In September They will have a specific silent study area on the top floor. They will have an exclusive common room on the ground floor. They will have access to a purpose built library. And much more….
