Unit One Focuses on: - how the reader is part of the meaning-making process

Unit One Focuses on: - how the reader is part of the meaning-making process - key features of the texts studied - language, style, structure - and how these are used by the authors - how texts, and authors, question aspects of society - how groups and individuals are represented in texts Texts studied are from the Year 12 text list. Usually a play and its screen adaptation, and another play or novel.

Unit Two Focuses on: - the relationship between authors, audiences and contexts - the

Unit Two Focuses on: - the relationship between authors, audiences and contexts - the views and values of the author and the social issues the texts raise - how literary criticism can be applied to texts - close reading of texts Two of the texts studied are from the Year 12 text list and may be in the form of a play, novel, anthology of poetry or other literature, and one texts will be a shorter piece, such as a short story or poem, and will be chosen by the student.

Unit Three Focuses on: - how form affects meaning - analysing structural and literary

Unit Three Focuses on: - how form affects meaning - analysing structural and literary features of a text - using different structural and imaginative techniques to recreate a literary work Texts studied: usually a play and a film adaptation, and another text, which may be a novel or play.
