Curriculum This year the children will take part in a Phonics Check. It will happen in mid June and later this year there will be a phonics meeting after school to help provide some guidance and tips you can use at home to help your child learn to read. Please can reading books be kept in book bags and we aim to change books up to 3 times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Curriculum As well as this, there is lots to learn in English and Maths! There are so many online games that can help with counting and learning to read and write. Learning should be fun! Talk about what your child is learning about at school, the best way of remembering something is to tell someone about it!

Curriculum We will continue to teach certain subjects together in a bid to make better links for children, leading into their future education. Science, Computing and Design and Technology will still be taught together. The Arts now covers Art, Music and French. We will have a Wellbeing afternoon where we will learn about physical and mental wellbeing. We are now teaching History and Geography discreetly.

Curriculum Transition from Reception…. - Afternoon play - Short focused tasks at desks - Art and creative focus English in Year 1 – English lessons will centre around high quality texts which enable children to practise structuring their sentences correctly and will support their phonetic learning and reading skills. There will be opportunities for children to explore key concepts through drama. Maths in Year 1 – this term children will learn how to order and compare to 20 and beyond. We will also learn about time, measure, how to find groups of, and share numbers.

P. E. Children require: - A yellow t-shirt, - Blue shorts, - Trainers and plimsolls are needed please. - During the winter, children are encouraged to wear jogging bottoms and a P. E jumper. Please try to keep to school colours. Girls will need to have socks in their PE bags if they are wearing tights. - P. E. will be on Wednesday (indoors and outdoors) so extra warm clothing for the winter is required.
