Y 6 Residential to Robinwood Monday 9 th March – Wednesday 11 th March 2020
Where are we going? Dobroyd Castle is set high up on the Todmorden moors enjoying some fantastic views of the surrounding area. It has 17 acres of grounds, which accommodate all the activities and are also the home for a wide range of wildlife including deer, rabbits and many more. There is a shallow lake - ideal for Canoeing and Raft Building. Don’t worry if you can’t swim – the water is only 1 metre deep. We also have Giant Swings and a Zip Wire around 80 metres long! The sports hall provides some fantastic indoor activity areas, housing Climbing walls and indoor Trapeze areas. There is also an indoor Archery range. There are three different themed problem solving areas which are great fun!
What will we be doing? Children have really busy days at Robinwood with activities starting at 9. 00 am and finishing around 9. 00 pm. In a 3 day course we typically pack in 15 different activity sessions. Activity sessions generally last for around an hour and a quarter. Typical three day programme at Dobroyd Castle Around 24 hours of high quality activity sessions packed into a 3 day course. We will ensure that our group gains the most possible from every moment spent at Robinwood, from wakeup around 7. 00 am to lights out (and sleep!) at 10. 00 pm.

Meal times Breakfast Cereals and toast and cooked breakfast. Lunch Sandwiches (with a choice of fillings), wraps and other alternatives with fruit, crisps and a chocolate biscuit. Evening Meal There is always a choice of meal. Children will choose their meals for the course on the first day. Typical meals include pizza, fish fingers, pasta bolognaise and baked potato. This will be followed by a dessert. Water and fresh fruit is available throughout the day. Please list any special dietary requirements on the Personal Information Form – to be returned by 30. 01. 20.
Which members of staff are going? q. Miss Meares q. Mrs Hill q. Mrs Sant – First Aider q. Mrs Wills & Mrs Baxter (x 1 day each) On Monday 9 th, we aim to arrive at Dobroyd Castle for 11: 00 am. Please bring a packed lunch(? - We will check) and don’t forget your suitcase! Your luggage will need a yellow tag clearly visible, with the details filled out. We will arrive back to school at approximately 3: 45 pm on Wednesday 11 th March.
What to bring Please see the recommend kit list printed out for you. It not absolutely necessary for children to bring all items given on the list – it is a guide only. It is advised that children wear clothing suitable for the inevitable wear and tear of an activity course. All specialist equipment will be provided by Robinwood – including buoyancy aids and helmets. What not to bring Please do not bring any mobile phones, i. Pads, tablets, expensive watches or cameras. Please do not bring an aerosol sprays (the smoke alarm sensors are sensitive!)You will not need any money.
Other Information q Children will be split into 4 groups for the activities. They will stay in these groups for the duration of our visit, but we will all come together for breaks, meal times & down time. q Dormitories all have bunk beds and rooms range in size. There will be rooms for boys and rooms for girls, but we can’t allocate children to dormitories until a week before we go. The centre allocates rooms to different schools 7 days prior to the visit.
