Main motivation for AVATAR: Aerodynamics of large wind turbines (10 -20 MW) • Off-shore: Upscaling to 10 MW+ is an option to reduce the LCOE, however…. . • 10 MW+ designs were outside the validated range of aerodynamic and aero-elastic models as implemented in wind turbine design codes • AVATAR improved and validated aerodynamic models for all aspects relevant for 10 MW+ designs FP 7 -ENERGY-2013 -1/ n° 608396 29 -10 -2021 4
