Writing an introduction How long should it be

Writing an introduction!

How long should it be? – Our introduction should only be 3 – 6 sentences long. – Not too short so they don’t tell us anything. – Not too long because it is a brief (quick) introduction into what we are going to read!

Writing your introduction – Look back at your question and fact from yesterday. – My Question: What is the largest bird on earth? – My Fact: The chicken is the closest living relative to the Tyrannosaurus Rex. – That is 2 of your sentences. Now we need 1 – 4 more to tie it all together.

Introduction – Did you know that the chicken is the closest living relative to the Tyrannosaurus Rex? Do you want to know what is the largest bird on planet earth? You can find out this and lots more interesting facts if you carry on reading! – I have added some extra parts of sentences to make my original ones make sense like ‘did you know’ and ‘do you want to know’ and added a sentence telling the readers to keep on reading! – Have a go at writing your own introduction, you can magpie my ideas if you want to!

For tomorrow – Have a think about which birds you are going to write about in your text. Try to choose about 3 but you can change your mind as we go on if you need to! – (I’m choosing an ostrich because that is the answer to my question!)
