WRITING AN IMAGINARY BIOGRAPHY: ELIZABETH I ( 1533 -1603) BY MATILDE PALERMO CLASS: 2 C L. LUCIANI SECONDARY SCHOOL YEAR: 2017/2018 I AM ELIZABETH TUDOR
My great family London: 1590 My name is Elizabeth, and I am Queen of England. I became queen in 1558 and I am 57 years old now. I want to talk about my family, my great family, the Tudor dynasty. My father was Henry VIII, he loved art and music like me. My mum was Anne Boleyn, his second wife. I know she was beautiful and elegant. But she was beheaded when I was a child. I had one half-sister, Mary and a half-brother Edward but they both died.
My childhood I don’ t remember much about my childhood. But I remember the great people near me. Those people gave me a good education. They said I was a very clever child and very good at languages and music. I was good at sport, particularly horse riding. I remember my pet dog, too.
MY PHYSICAL APPEARANCE As you can see from these paintings, I’m tall and slim. I’ve got curly red hair, a long face, small brown eyes, a hooked nose and a thin mouth. I love dancing and I play some musical instruments.
THINGS I DID Two years ago I defeated the “Armada” of Philip of Spain when he tried to conquer England. I encouraged sailors, explorers and traders to settle abroad and to create colonies. As I said before, I loved art and I encouraged artists and the development of culture. I loved theatre, too. Shakespeare was the greatest playwright of the time. In the Globe Theatre there were fantastic shows and I sometimes watched them. I wanted to make England a prosperous country.
MY PRIVATE LIFE I never got married because I was married to ‘my country’, and as I have no children, I think my nephew, James of Scotland, my cousin Mary’s son, will inherit the throne of England when I die. The Tudor dynasty will come to an end a new dynasty, the Stuarts will start.
