Reminder: What’s the difference between a “Topic Outline” and a “Paragraph Outline”? A “topic outline” is the name I made up for an outline that is like a Table of Contents A “paragraph outline” is the name for an outline that outlines your essay by paragraph **The difference between the two: -your topic outline only has a topic sentence explaining the main idea of the paragraph included– typically 1 page -your paragraph outline is full of information you will be including in your actual paragraph (like evidence, discussion, analysis, etc. )– typically multiple pages
How to get started with your Paragraph Outline 1. Start with your Topic Outline **if you did your topic outline correctly this work should be the start of your Paragraph Outline 2. Next you should pull out all your research and notes you have taken so far **look for evidence that supports the main ideas you have chosen for the body paragraphs 3. Begin writing commentary, evidence & discussion points under the main idea sentences
