Reasons and Facts Each supporting sentence gives a reason or fact that explains about the topic. Reasons ~ Something you say to explain or justify your thoughts. Facts ~ A true statement that supports your thoughts.

Topic Sentence The first sentence in a paragraph gives a statement of what will be explained. Manheim is a great place to go to elementary school.

Supporting Sentence 1 The second sentence in a paragraph gives a reason or fact about the topic sentence. The teachers at Manheim are friendly and helpful.

Supporting Sentence 2 The third sentence in a paragraph gives another reason or fact about the topic sentence. Going to school at Manheim is like learning with your family.
