Writing a Descriptive Paragraph
A topic sentence tells what the paragraph is going to be about and is interesting enough to make the reader want to continue reading the paragraph. . My grandmother’s kitchen is the best place to be in the whole world.
The body or middle of the paragraph is where you give details that explain what was introduced in the topic sentence. These sentences should be well organized and be made interesting by using expressive adverbs and adjectives.
Grandmother is always baking, so when you enter her kitchen the smell of whatever confection has been popped into the oven wafts throughout. Her apple pie is a favorite. The buttery crust melts in your mouth as the tart apples wake up your taste buds. Grandmother usually has an audience of several children, grandchildren, and neighbors who gathere for a baked treat, coffee, good conversation, and the latest gossip. But eating and talking are not the only reasons to enter this special place. Grandmother always has a game or two going on at the kitchen table, which sits near the fireplace, at the far corner of the kitchen. During cool weathere is invariably a crackling, roaring wood fire going. Grandmother’s favorite game is Scrabble, and everyone tries to beat her, but few do.
