One medicinal benefit is its effectiveness in providing relief from glaucoma. (Wills, 2010) It is known that Glaucoma is a common eye ailment that effects people as they age. It is clear that those suffering from glaucoma should have this option. Another medicinal benefit of marijuana is that it is an effective pain reliever. (Jones, 2009) It is common knowledge that pain is one of the symptoms for which powerful, expensive drugs are commonly prescribed, and marijuana is a natural remedy to this common problem. Lastly, marijuana is effective in stimulating the appetite of patients who, for various reasons, do not have the desire to eat. (Williams, 2011) Clearly, Patients under certain treatments often do not eat properly and become weak. Obviously, this can negatively affect their healing. So, the medical benefits provided by marijuana are, indeed, many. Activity • Select one of your focus question (paraphrasing) sheets and write a body paragraph for your academic paper. • Mark the TS/topic sentence in blue. • Mark the CD/concrete detail/evidence in red. • Mark the two CMs/commentaries in green. • Mark the CS/concluding sentence in blue. • Circle signal words/transitions and lead ins/key words.
