Wretched man that I am! Romans 7: 14 -8: 17

Wretched man that I am! �Sometimes I feel like a lousy Christian. �Sometimes I AM a lousy Christian! �I don’t want to be a lousy Christian! �I want to do what is right and good! �Sometimes it really gets to me. It makes me mad. I feel like a failure. I wonder if I should give up because I’ll never get it right. Maybe I’m more broken than the law of God can fix. �The apostle Paul identifies with you!

Wretched man that I am! Flesh Spirit vs. Where are you? “Live” “Think” Mind/Heart

Wretched man that I am! � 8: 1 No condemnation = no adjudging guilty of wrong. �IN Jesus (ie. Who live and walk NOT after the flesh but after the dictates of the Spirit) �Vs 2 The law, our law, the law of our new beginning. �Vs 3 Why not? Its power weakened by the flesh. �Flesh = entire nature of man WITHOUT the Holy Spirit. �Condemned sin = subdued, overcame, deprived it of its power…and for all who accept that sacrifice. Lev. 7: 37 �Vs 4 Purpose clause… Our lives governed NOT by the standards and according to the dictates of the flesh but controlled by the Holy Spirit!

Wretched man that I am! �Vs 6 Mind set on flesh = sense and reason without the Holy Spirit. �Death = all that comprises the miseries arising from sin, here & hereafter. �BUT, sense & reason with the Holy Spirit…both now and forever! �Vs 7 Mind on the flesh with its carnal thoughts & purposes hostile! �Vs 8 When catering to the appetites & impulses of a carnal nature… cannot please, satisfy or be acceptable to God. �Vs 9 When living after the Spirit You belong! Belong to God!
