Lesson 10 Van Gogh and Ukiyoe Japanese pottery was one of the few items / that Japanese merchants were allowed to export. Japanese government officials did not pay attention to the ukiyoe prints / which happened to be used as wrapping paper for the pottery. In this way, thousands of ukiyoe prints were able to make their way to European countries.
