WP 6: Data Collection, Collation, Analysis, Integration, Sharing and Reporting www. pandora. com Dr. Honorati Masanja, Prof Ibrahim Abubakar, Dr. Alexei Yavlinsky, Dr. Robert Aldridge This project is part of the EDCTP 2 Programme supported by the European Union Amsterdam, 9. 1. 2019
Presentation outline 1. 2. 3. 4. Objectives Deliverables Potential cross WP collaboration Planned activities Amsterdam, 10. 01. 2019
Objectives 1. To develop a common understanding of the need for and existing systems of best practice for data collection, collation, sharing and analysis to inform disease outbreak management. 2. To create a real time data sharing platform for disease outbreaks building on existing best practice. 3. To support mechanisms for rapid data sharing during disease outbreaks in collaboration with national and supranational partners such as the African Centres for Disease Control 4. To develop harmonized and adaptable databases to allow rapid sharing of high quality clinical trials data and biological samples across sites. Amsterdam, 10. 01. 2019
Objectives 5. Develop and strengthen analytical capacity to handle large clinical trials, surveillance and biological samples data from consortium members and associate programmes. Amsterdam, 10. 01. 2019
Deliverables 6. 1: Workshop report on engagement with local communities • Held a meeting with MOH team responsible for emerging and re-emerging disease to introduce PANDORA • Identified areas that the MOH is keen to work with PANDORA – Characterization of viruses and impact in clinical outcomes, – Training on syndromic approach to managing patients, – Tapping into the laboratory capacity of the PANDORA team by training of peripheral labs and the use of the mobile lab capability for RT-PCR assays during outbreaks, – The use of Afyadata mobile application by health workers for surveillance. • Plan to use the workshop in Addis in March 2019 to engage other key stakeholders that will be present Place, Date of the presnetation
Deliverables 6. 2. 1: Review of best practices (collaboration with ALLERT) • We conducted an initial scoping of the literature on outbreak management systems – The performance evaluation criteria are heterogeneous – Challenging to review systematically – Reviewed Afya. Data App capabilities as part of the initial scoping exercise • Designed a questionnaire for field experts on their past use of such systems to create a comparative basis • Available for review at https: //bit. ly/2 Fme. N 4 p • We strongly encourage everyone who has frontline outbreak management experience to send us feedback on it • The final version will be disseminated at the Addis Ababa workshop Place, Date of the presnetation
Deliverables 6. 2. 2: Data Management Plan • None developed yet, (see planned activities slide) Place, Date of the presnetation
Deliverables 6. 3: RADAR software customization Dependent on completion of previous deliverables 6. 4: Data Analytics capabilities Dependent on completion of previous deliverables 6. 5: Report on capacity development workshops Dependent on completion of previous deliverables 6. 6: Manual of operations Dependent on completion of previous deliverables Place, Date of the presnetation
Potential cross WP collaborations • Held a meeting with WP 3, 4 and 6 and the Ministry of Health representative • Participated at the inception meeting for WP 4 & 5 that was held in Dar es Salaam. The meeting brought together stakeholders from different institutions within and outside the consortium Place, Date of the presnetation
Potential cross WP collaborations • Held a discussion with CHATAM House (WP 7) on media training. We requested the organizers to expand the team that will attend the training the CHATAM is organizing for the PANDORA-ID-NET team Place, Date of the presnetation
WP involvement in other networks How the WP can work with the Africa CDC, WAHO and Nigeria CDC • Plan to administer the questionnaire during the March meeting to other network Place, Date of the presnetation
Planned activities • Conduct stakeholder’s engagement activities during workshops or meetings • Media training with Sci. Dev • Catalogue of existing datasets/studies of both human and animals within the consortium to share with Africa CDC • Develop high level “generic” data management plan – – Project, experiment and data description Documentation, organization and storage Access, sharing and re-use Archiving Place, Date of the presnetation
