Objectives 1. To develop a common understanding of the need for and existing systems

Objectives 1. To develop a common understanding of the need for and existing systems of best practice for data collection, collation, sharing and analysis to inform disease outbreak management. 2. To create a real time data sharing platform for disease outbreaks building on existing best practice. 3. To support mechanisms for rapid data sharing during disease outbreaks in collaboration with national and supranational partners such as the African Centres for Disease Control 4. Deliverables 6. 1: Workshop report on engagement with local communities • Held a meeting with MOH team responsible for emerging and re-emerging disease to introduce PANDORA • Identified areas that the MOH is keen to work with PANDORA – Characterization of viruses and impact in clinical outcomes, – Training on syndromic approach to managing patients, – Tapping into the laboratory capacity of the PANDORA team by training of peripheral labs and the use of the mobile lab capability for RT-PCR assays during outbreaks, – The use of Afyadata mobile application by health workers for surveillance. • Plan to use the workshop in Addis in March 2019 to engage other key stakeholders that will be present Place, Date of the presnetation

Deliverables 6. 2. 1: Review of best practices (collaboration with ALLERT) • We conducted an initial scoping of the literature on outbreak management systems – The performance evaluation criteria are heterogeneous – Challenging to review systematically – Reviewed Afya. Data App capabilities as part of the initial scoping exercise • Designed a questionnaire for field experts on their past use of such systems to create a comparative basis • Available for review at https: //bit. ly/2 Fme.
