WORLD METEOROLOGICAL ORGANIZATION HYDROLOGICAL OPERATIONAL MULTIPURPOSE SYSTEM n Member countries of WMO have provided input into the HOMS system. n Almost 4, 000 transfers have occurred to 138 countries throughout the world. n Approximately 200 components are transferred to both developed and developing countries each year. n Components are regularly added to the HOMS system by the HOMS National Reference Centers as new technology and methods become available. n Out-of-date components are systematically purged from the system.
WORLD METEOROLOGICAL ORGANIZATION HYDROLOGICAL OPERATIONAL MULTIPURPOSE SYSTEM HOMS Office in WMO • The HOMS Office is at the hub of all HOMS activity. • The Office assists with administrative formalities in the transfer of components and arranges for assistance in the adaptation of components for use in developing countries. • The HOMS Office also monitors the operation of HOMS, including collection of statistics on transfers and identifying gaps in the components and sequences available. • It maintains a Home Page on the Internet
