Land Terms �Continents: Major world landmasses that are generally completely surrounded by water.
Land Terms �Island: A body of land completely surrounded by water.
Land Terms �Desert: An area of land that consists of little vegetation, no permanent bodies of water and erratic rainfall.
Land Terms �Basin: An area of land which has no water outlet to the ocean.
Land Terms �Hills: An area of land with a higher elevation than surrounding terrain. Hills usually have a distinct high point, though sometimes they represent low ridges or areas that are simply higher than surrounding areas.
Land Terms �Mountains: An area of land with a significantly higher elevation than surrounding terrain. Mountains generally have slopes steeper and higher than hills.
Land Terms �Plains: A large region composed of relatively level/flat, almost treeless ground.
Land Terms �Plateau: A large region of relatively level/flat ground that is higher than the surrounding area. Tibetan Plateau
Land Terms �Valley: A low place between mountains or surrounding areas

Land Terms �Marsh/Swamp: A low area of land that is often saturated with water, but also with plant life.
Land Terms �Delta: A relatively triangular region where a single river splits into multiple channels as it empties into an ocean, sea, or lake.
Water Terms �Oceans: The bodies of water surrounding the continents. �Generally we consider the oceans to be the: Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, and Arctic Oceans
Water Terms �Seas: A large body of salty water usually connected to an ocean.
Water Terms �Gulf: A large inlet of an ocean similar to a bay, but often longer and larger than bays.
Water Terms �Bays: Part of an ocean or lake partially and distinctly enclosed by land.
Water Terms �Strait/Channel: A relatively narrow body of water that connects two larger bodies of water.
Water Terms �Lakes: A large body of water surrounded on all sides. Lakes are generally fresh water, but if they are in a basin, can be salty.
