• Austro-Turkish War 1787 -1791 • • Turkish = Turkey = Ottoman Empire Ended essentially in a stalemate Austria regained small amount of land Serbia remained under Ottoman rule • Realized wouldn’t get help from Austria • Serbs looked to Russia for help getting independence from Ottoman Empire
• Russo-Swedish War 1788 -1790 • King Gustav III attempted to gain legitimacy • Sweden won several naval battles • Prevented Russia from sending navy to fight Ottomans
• Sino-Nepalese War 1788 -1789 • China defended Tibet against Nepal • Nepal invaded Tibet over dispute related to Nepal’s inferior silver • Tibet was under administrative rule of China • Nepal forced to pay “tribute” to China
