Work-Study Program 2021 -2022

Work-Study is a form of financial aid funded by the Federal Government that allows for part-time student employment. Students who are eligible will see a Work. Study award included in their financial aid package. You earn your work-study funds in a paycheck through hours worked in your work-study job.

To participate in the Work-Study Program, you have to have a completed Work Application on file with Student Financial Assistance. A Work Application consists of a completed and signed Employment Eligibility Verification Form I 9 and copies of acceptable identification. You can access this I-9 Form here: Work Application I-9 Form The I-9 form and ID’s are returned to Student Financial Assistance.

Acceptable Identification Options All Identifications must be Unexpired Option 1: One copy of U. S. Passport or U. S. Passport Card If you don't have either of Option 1, pick from Option 2. One copy from Column 1 And one copy from Column 2: Option 2: Column 1: And Column 2: Driver License Social Security Card Student ID Birth Certificate

Students with complete Work Applications, will receive a *Referral Form in your SHU email which is sent the first week of school. You need to print out this *form and once you acquire a job, it needs to be completed by you and your supervisor and returned to Student Financial Assistance ASAP. This *form is the ONLY thing that will activate you in Dayforce so you can log your hours to get paid.

Once you receive your Referral Form, you can now search for a job. A complete list of available jobs is located online under Work-Study Job Postings. We recommend that you search for a job ASAP. You may want to contact more than one department and not wait for one to get back to you.

When a complete Referral Form is submitted to SFA, you will be activated in Dayforce within 2 to 3 days. Dayforce instructions are available when you drop off your Referral Form. These instructions are also available on our website.

If you cannot access Dayforce when you start your job, notify your supervisor and keep track of your hours. You cannot go back and put in past hours; your supervisor has to do that. If at any time you forget to punch in or out or a correction needs to be made to Dayforce, your supervisor has to do that for you.

As long as your supervisor approves your hours in a timely manner, you will get paid every two weeks on a Friday. Supervisors have to approve your hours in Dayforce on Monday by 1: 00 pm for you to be paid on that Friday.

Paper paychecks are not distributed on campus by the Payroll office. Your paycheck will be mailed to your home address. Direct Deposit is highly recommended. You can designate your Direct Deposit information in the Dayforce system and you will also have to specify your income tax withholdings.

Frequently Asked Questions Why didn’t I receive my Referral Form? Your Work App is not received or it is incomplete. You need to contact Student Financial Assistance. (note: students with completed Work Applications will be emailed their Referral Form the first week of school). How many hours can I work? Your Referral Form shows the amount of hours you should work per week but this is only a recommendation to insure that your work-study money lasts until the end of the academic year.

Frequently Asked Questions Why can’t I access Dayforce? Make sure you dropped off your Referral form to SFA and if so, it takes 2 to 3 days before you’ll have access. Why am I not getting paid? If you’ve logged your hours in Dayforce, check with your supervisor to be sure they approved them. If they approved them, check with Patty Yacik in Payroll at 203 -371 -7931. What happens when I earn my full award amount? If you have reached or exceeded your award amount, your work-study is terminated and you cannot continue working. You will receive emails every two weeks of what remains of your work-study.

Frequently Asked Questions What happens if campus must close again due to the pandemic? Each job description has been updated to indicate whether or not there is remote work available. If your supervisor has noted remote work tasks, coordinate with your supervisor to continue to work remotely. If the position states that there is no remote work available, then this job will end if campus is closed.

Work-Study Job Fair Date: Friday, September 10, 2021 Time: 2: 00 -4: 00 pm. Location: Edgerton Lobby & Atrium Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts You should bring your Referral Form with you & your class schedule if possible. Not all departments will be present so you should still search for a job on your own.
