Accountability is an associate’s belief as to whether or not they can have impact over their own outcomes and results.

Obtain data – survey for accountability
Organizational Commitments § Recruit for strong internal locus of control, accountability and commitment § Reinforce through strong onboarding and orientation processes § Manage performance more rigorously
Recruit § Tell me about a time when you were asked to do something outside of your job description. How did you respond? How did you make sense of the request? § Tell me about a time when you were given a task that seemed impossible. (A follow up question might be…) In hindsight, what do you think you could have done differently? § Tell me about a time when you were coached on subpar performance. § Tell me about a time when you failed. What was the situation, and what was your part in the failure? How did you handle it? What did you learn from that situation?

Reinforce § Transformational first day experience at Discover Asbury includes activity and lesson in accountability. § All new Directors and above participate in Leadership Asbury, a two-day experience. § Just Culture – a values-based system of shared accountability
Manage § New performance appraisal format with behavioral descriptors § Commits to what is asked of them. § Stays committed in the face of challenge. § Finds solutions to address obstacles. § Admits their role in a failure. § Open to feedback and development experiences. § Learns from mistakes. § Applies lessons learned to the job. § Seeks to improve their own performance.
