Working Together Agreement for Online Meetings BY THE
‘Working Together Agreement’ for Online Meetings BY THE INDEPENDENT MENTAL HEALTH NETWORK
Our Purpose: To bring together people with lived experience of mental health, to work together to improve mental health services and campaign against mental health stigma. How will we do this? • Discuss the issues that surround mental health in the Stockport area. • Discuss the ways in which we can collaborate to improve support.
On-line Meeting Working Together Agreement • If you are not speaking put yourself on mute to reduce distractions. • If you wish to speak physically raise your hand or use the “raise your hand” function and the facilitator will invite you to speak. • Please save your questions until the end of the presentation. • If you do need a break from the meeting -please don’t feel the need to ask.
IMHN’s Values • Inclusivity • Being open to all people with lived experience of mental health, regardless of their age, gender, race, sexuality, ability or religion. • Bravery • Speaking out, sharing our experiences and making sure our voices are heard. • Respectfulness • Listening to others’ mental health experiences without holding any judgement. • Determination • Ensuring mental health services meet the needs of users, and worthwhile change is created. • Innovation • Creating lasting solutions for improving access to mental health services
Using the IMHN values as a foundation, we want members with lived experience to help us with creating a ‘Working Together Agreement’ to ensure best practice whilst co-producing*. This is for everybody’s benefit to ensure the smooth running of online meetings. *Co-production: Co-production is a practice in which citizens are involved in the creation of public policies and services.
Working Together Agreement • We request that conduct expected at ordinary in-person members’ meetings carry over to online meetings – creating a culture of respect. • Allow everyone the chance to speak and voice their opinions • Don’t talk over people • Don’t belittle others experience and views • People may discuss their own personal situations; please respect the confidentiality of these and don’t share or discuss outside of the meeting unless given permission to do so • When feedback is raised about a mental health service or organisation based on a persons own experiences, the facilitator of the meeting will ask whether this can be anonymously noted for raising through IMHN’s feedback process BUT remember the information recorded will not identify the member in any way and any further use of that feedback will be completely anonymous
Working Together Agreement Cont’d: • Please respect the direction of the meeting by the facilitator in order to run a good meeting • Be mindful when mentioning any third party in an identifiable manner – e. g. those not present at the meeting, friends, family and healthcare professionals – as we do not want to break confidentiality • Be mindful of the information you share, for example personal contact details • Please do not bring personal issues or conflicts with other members of the team into the discussion • Do not use any third-party or external tool to record the meeting in any form (as with all IMHN-facilitated meetings, minutes will be being taken and circulated after the meeting)
Breaking the Working Together Agreement If a participant of an IMHN virtual meeting breaches a part of the Working Together Agreement, it will be addressed in the following way: • First breach: • a reminder by the facilitator of the Working Together Agreement • Second breach: • the Facilitator will give a warning • Third breach • will result in ejection from the meeting. • the meeting participant will be contacted (by email) by a member of the IMHN team to discuss further.
Breaking the Working Together Agreement • If a meeting participant shares indecent images of themselves, others, or of anything else that is likely to cause significant offence (including but not limited to material conveying violence, pornography, hate imagery, racism etc), the meeting participant will be immediately removed from the meeting without notice and not be permitted to return.
