TRANSPORTATION ADVISORY GROUP REPORT • Met on Wednesday, Nov. 18 • Identified 2 Technical issues: • All of Route 29 should be renamed with same name. Includes section of Old Dominion Drive between Five Points and Lee Heights. • Renaming of “Old Lee Highway” – recommend a separate process through the LHA Transportation Advisory Group.

BUSINESS & PROPERTY OWNERS ADVISORY GROUP REPORT • • Must be easy to spell and pronounce Including both the first and last name is too long Easy to use in advertising; memorable/compelling Name should not be easily confused with another name Sense of place and legacy is important Like the idea of using historical names Should be timeless, serious, not sound made up, and not too controversial

BACKGROUND ON TOP NAMES • Once the final 5 names are chosen, a justification for each name will be given to the County Board • Met with HALRB Staff to discuss vetting of local names • Reached out to subject matter experts – including the lead curator at the Museum of the American Indian and expert Dr. Helen Rountree • Identified 2 significant issues: • Necostin – not accurate. Arlington was a hunting ground for numerous tribes. • Maggie Walker (Walker is already a street in Arlington) • Remove both prior to voting?
