What is WIA? The Workforce Investme Act (WIA) is a federally funded employment and nt training program. The program assists customers The WIA benefits those who are: with: Developing workforce Youths (Ages 17 -21) just entering the Workforce opportunities Accessing training Managing career choices Veterans Unemployed Under-Employed Dislocated Worker Website: www. tridentscworks. org
What can the WIA program offer me? The program offers: Two Levels of Service: Intensive and Training Work. Keys Assessment Background Checks Drug Screenings Tuition and Book Payment Assistance Uniforms, Supplies or Tools Website: www. tridentscworks. org
Intensive Services are offered to customers who are unable to obtain full-time employment through our Core Services and who are in need of additional help to obtain and/or retain employment. Services Include: WIA Enrollment Case Management Services Career Counseling Individual Employment Plans Work. Keys Administration Maintain Monthly Contact with a Workforce Specialist Identifies Skills, Knowledge Individual and Comprehensive Assessment and Abilities Website: www. tridentscworks. org
Training Clusters Training Services are offered to customers who are unable to obtain full-time employment through Core Services and Intensive Services, and who are need of new skills to obtain and/or retain employment. Training is limited to those occupations which fall within the Target Industry Clusters approved in the TWIB Five Year Strategic Plan. The Approved Clusters are: * Manufacturing * Transportation & Logistics * Biomedical and Medical * Information Technology Services * Specialty Trade Contractors Website: www. tridentscworks. org
Training Services are offered to customers who are unable to obtain full-time employment through Core Services and Intensive Services, and who are need of new skills to obtain and/or retain employment. Types of WIA Training Include: On-The-Job Training (OJT)*, Educational Training (GED), Occupational Skills Training * On-The-Job Training allows you to earn income while in training with an approved employer. Eligible participants in this training program are subject to the employer’s hiring policies. Website: www. tridentscworks. org
Training Services are offered to customers who are unable to obtain full-time employment through Core Services and Intensive Services, and who are need of new skills to obtain and/or retain employment. Requirements for Training Services: Other Items May Be Required: High School Diploma or GED, Work. Other Services Supportive Services: » Supportive Services may be available to help in overcoming barriers to employment. Please make your case manager aware of anything that will keep you from participating in the program. » Supportive Services are provided on a case-by-case basis, when available. Follow-Up Services: Follow-up services are provided to WIA participants for 12 months by WIA staff members. During this time the WIA staff will: » Track your employment success » Assist with job placement and job referrals as needed » Make referrals to other services as needed Participants are REQUIRED to stay in touch with follow-up staff for a full 12 months Website: www. tridentscworks. org
