WOOD WORK PROJECT
Mission statement • Youth of Ubuntu is a registered non-profit organization which aims to develop youth through education, empowerment and recreation. Goals • The organizations goal is to work in collaboration with any organization or individuals in achieving our primary objective. Vision statement: • To mentor African youth through High School and University or technical School so they can be productive and have independent financial means in order to be leaders and mentors for future youth in underprivileged areas.
• To develop youth through education, empowerment and recreation. • To provide support structures for youth holistically.
• The woodwork project is a vital tool in order to develop the youth and local community • Once the workshop has been built the organization intends to work in collaboration with other organizations to ensure that the program remains active. • Y. O. U will recruit their own students and young people from other local organizations. • An experienced and successful carpenter with more than 20 years experience will be providing the woodwork training. The carpenter has worked with the organization for many years and has worked on a few projects.
OBJECTIVES • To strengthen the productive capacity of beneficiaries and members of the surrounding community. • To Teach and develop wood work skills. • To become self- sufficient and generate a consistent income for the organization • To create employment within and in the surrounding community.
• Thus far beneficiaries have been exposed to the woodwork project and they have taken part in small projects like making and building chairs, tables, desks, cupboards and beds. These are only a few projects they are involved with now and look forward in developing these skills on a greater level.
• WOODWORK EQUIPMENT The equipment for the project is very expensive and the organization does not generate enough funds to purchase the equipment needed. The organization is in need of this equipment to ensure that the project can be carried out.
STRENGTHS • • Skills will be taught to unskilled youth. The location of the workshop. Beneficiaries gain experience. Be exposed to and gain knowledge of equipment used.
