P. E. E Paragraphs How would you describe Auggie’s relationship with his mum? August has a close, strong bond with his mother. This is shown in the quotation: “Her smile kind of hugged me. ” This quotation suggests that by the use of personification, Auggie finds comfort from her, as the verb “hugged” gives the impression of warmth and closeness.
P. E. E Paragraphs How does Auggie feel on his first day? Auggie panics when he hears the other children speaking in the hall. He describes his nerves by saying: “the laughter I had inside poured out of me. ” This quotation suggests how anxious he feels about meeting the other students, through the use of the verb 'poured' which suggests the laughter left him quickly in large quantities; it is as though he has lost all of his joy and cannot get it back.
P. E. E Paragraphs How does Summer feel about being with friends with August? Summer is proud and happy to be friends with August. This is shown in the quotation: “I’m friends with him because I want to be friends with him. ” This quotation shows how proud Summer is because her no-nonsense reply shows she isn’t afraid to tell people that she wants to be friends with Auggie despite knowing what other people may think and say.
