My wonder question For my wonder project assignment, I chose the question: If scientists

My wonder question For my wonder project assignment, I chose the question: If scientists are successful in implementing and using needle-free injections, would that solve the spreading of diseases around the world, particularly in third world countries? • I chose this question because it seems like a good thing if there are better medicines for people, not only in canada, but also in other parts of the world like third world countries. • Also, it would be beneficial to scientists and manufacturers to create needle free injections that don’t cost a lot, and are easy to make so that it can be sold all over the world. • It seems like a good thing to care for other people and make sure that their health can improve and a good thing to do what it takes for that to happen.

SUMMARY OF MY RESEARCH • If you use needle injections to inject someone, it

SUMMARY OF MY RESEARCH • If you use needle injections to inject someone, it could be a risk if you use that same needle to inject someone else. You must get a needle injection, tetanus immediately if you have an animal bite. • It is estimated that 15 million people every year around the world are infected by diseases from improper use of needle injections. • The diseases passed around from these injections are Hepatitis B, C and H. I. V. Hepatitis C is curable in some cases but if you have Hepatitis B or HIV, you are stuck with these your whole life. • Some developments have been thought about like oral insulin pills, inhalers and insulin jet injectors for people with diabetes • Pharmajet is a needle-free injector and it is low in cost so it can be sold all over the world. 15 billion to 20 billion injections are made each year around the world. It is made of polypropylene. • It is held against the skin and it gives medicine out a passage and penetrates through the skin. The nurses only have to throw out the cartridge that held the medicine.

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED? • From the research and the summary I made, I

WHAT HAVE I LEARNED? • From the research and the summary I made, I learned that needle free injections are beneficial in many ways and they are helpful to people all over the world. • I also learned that both needle and needle-free injections have their advantages and disadvantages, but all and all needle-free injections are a better choice. • I learned some skills as well, like knowing how to find relevant sources to gather information from. • I learned how to cite sources properly as well as interpreting similar sources and comparing them. I learned how to summarize information in my own words • Lastly, I learned how to look for main ideas in articles

WAS I ABLE TO ANALYZE EVIDENCE FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES? • For this project, I

WAS I ABLE TO ANALYZE EVIDENCE FROM DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVES? • For this project, I focused on some different perspectives. I mentioned that it depends on your age to decide how often to get needle free injections. • I also briefly talked about how different parts of the world will benefit from these needle injections the most. Lastly, I talked a little bit about how people with health problems like diabetes will also benefit from these. • I found I was able to evaluate my thinking though, and infer what other concerns there might be from different points of views

WAS I ABLE TO SUSTAIN INTEREST IN MY TOPIC OVER THE SEMESTER? • I

WAS I ABLE TO SUSTAIN INTEREST IN MY TOPIC OVER THE SEMESTER? • I think that I was able to sustain interest in the topic for needle-free injections most of the time in semester 2, but I think that my topic may have faded a bit, because of all the other interests I have had since the beginning of science 9 • It was a little hard for me to stay interested and think about it everyday, because of the other interesting topics in this class, but I always make sure to remember that this topic will help me succeed in science • At the beginning of the wonder project (blog post #1), I was interested the most because it was the first time looking at articles about needle free injections. • For this blog post I am somewhat interested, but I have already got the research down and I am only using it to make a presenation

WHAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THIS PROJECT? • For me, the most

WHAT WAS THE MOST CHALLENGING PART OF THIS PROJECT? • For me, the most challenging part of the project was finding relevant information to help me answer my big wonder question. • Also, finding detailed sub-questions was hard, because it is hard to break up a ton of information into sections. Another challenging part was finding a way to organize my information into sections. • There were a few resources that talked about slightly similar things, so I had to find a way to sort them out so I know what their main ideas are. What was the most interesting part of this project? • Although a lot of the project was very hard, there were a few interesting parts to this project. One of them was when I compared and contrasted the sources, because I got to see how each of the sources is the same and how they are different from each other. • This was very beneficial as well, because if I know how the sources are different, it helps me understand what factors to consider of the needle free injections.

DID I ENJOY THIS PROJECT? WHY OR WHY NOT? • Overall, I did enjoy

DID I ENJOY THIS PROJECT? WHY OR WHY NOT? • Overall, I did enjoy this project because I got to explore a branch of science that involves the human body. This could open a door for my career, potentially. • It also liked this project because I like the idea of solutions for helping people all over the world. This project was a very good help for noticing world issues. • However, there may have been a few things that I could change for this project. I could have added a little more research and talked a bit more about how the sources were different from each other. • I also could have interpreted my research in my own words AND make it so that very young people would be able to understand it.

IF I COULD CONTINUE RESEARCHING MY WONDER QUESTION, WHAT WOULD BE MY NEXT STEP?

IF I COULD CONTINUE RESEARCHING MY WONDER QUESTION, WHAT WOULD BE MY NEXT STEP? • After working on this wonder project, I realized that I had focused a lot on the needle free injections impact on humans. My next step would be how these injections would impact animals. Maybe there are different factors to consider. • Maybe some animals are better with needle injections than others, or maybe an experiment is irreversible and animals stop living. I think that this would be my next step for my wonder question, because considering the live of all living things is very important.
