I am Woman…hear me roar Through their work in the Abolition Movement, Angelina and Sarah Grimke Plantation Children who left the plantation to fight to end slavery started to also push for more rights for women Sarah Grimke Wanted equal educational opportunities, fair laws, and equal pay to men Angelina Grimke would Get Married to Abolitionist Theodore Weld and BOTH looked for marriage equality Other Women would focus on the Individualism movement to earn women equality as individuals

Women belong in the house…and the Senate As Women like Sojourner Truth, and the Grimke Sisters took a more active roll in abolition and women’s rights, the movement began to grow As women gained more education they began to better organize their movement to gain rights by forming reform groups Ads the movement spread men would join the effort for women's rights and would push for women to be able to sit on juries and vote Women also began to push for more control over their marriage and property

The thing women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it! Some women did NOT believe in the women’s rights movement saying a women were not unequal…just different Some people did not want women to work for rights and social changes in public but from their homes (an opinion published in the magazine The Lady at Home) Some People thought that a woman could not mentally and physically survive without a man’s protection Some people thought a woman could not cope with the stress of the outside world and therefore a husband should control his wife’s property

Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition When Elizabeth Cady Stanton attended the World Anti-slavery convention she was told she could not participate Stanton and Lucretia Mott would hold the Seneca Falls Convention to help push for women’s rights At the Convention the Declaration of Sentiments was written and, based off the Declaration of Independence, detailed the social injustices against women Many people who worked the Abolition and Temperance movement would also participate in the movement for women’s rights

Not only is women's work never done, the definition keeps changing Three Women would take the spotlight as the most important women’s rights figures Lucy Stone Became a Gifted Speaker who worked to stir emotions to help fix injustices against women Susan B. Anthony pushed for equal pay to men, for women to be allowed to have male dominated professions, and for women to gain control over financial issues Susan B. Anthony would gain the right for married women to own property in New York which would spread through the Northeast and Midwest

Sometimes the best man for the job isn't Elizabeth Cady Stanton would write many Women’s rights Speeches that were delivered by Susan B. Anthony Stanton would also form the National Woman Suffrage Association to push for a woman’s right to vote The National Woman Suffrage Association would treat the Women’s Rights Movement and The Abolition Movement Equally in Importance Even though more woman would become involved in the women’s rights movement they would not get more rights until the 1900 s
