WOMEN RIGHTS POEMS By Masyn Ciccarello
DIFFERENCE I won’t eat, sleep, or do as told till it happens I will leave my so called “duties” And petition to the people Take a stand I refuse to obey anymore Its time, its been time For women to be part
CHANGE Women Sheltered Voiceless And helpless Branded by societies men Earning suffrage will not be easy But we shall not cry for help We will strive for it And earn it by our own means We will open our OWN doors Make our OWN earning And for fill OUR need for an education Us, women will make change
VOICE No voice I shall be told what to do and obey Like a puppet I am controlled by our close minded society They deny me my education They tell me my own limits But unlike many of my sisters before me I will not just stand around I want, I need my own voice And I’m willing to suffer for it
“THE LADY AT HOME” “And you will tend to the children. ” They say Clean and cook Be “the lady at home” Your work will be overlooked Outshined by the men Well I say no Machinery is now evolving Why shouldn’t we? All races are equal now Why can’t genders be too?
EQUALITY Society refuses my rights to be equal They deny me my natural rights They tell me what I can and can’t do as a women I’m looked upon as more of a machine than a person Am I mad for wanting equality between genders Am I unreasonable because I want the same liberties as the normal male Why should I suffer because of what your fathers before you thought was right
Break free Am I too frail? Too weak? Too sheltered? Because that’s what I am hearing How can you reduce me to so little If you gave me the same god given rights as you I could excel beyond your belief I don’t want to be known just as the women anymore I want to be more than that So break me free from these
END NOTE There were many female leaders that helped our chances of earning equality. Some examples are Sarah Grimke’ who wrote a pamphlet on equality rights. Another great leader was Sojourner Truth who gave amazing and insightful speeches about our movement. Last but not least another great leader was Susan B. Anthony she brought very strong organizational skills. All these women fought for the same thing in different ways to help our movement they should be greatly looked upon for what they have done. They changed how society is for the better.
