Habitat Wolverines live in the far northern parts of North America , Europe and Asia. Wolverines live in remote areas and in rocky places and forests.
Life cycle Wolverines usually breed during summer. They are pregnant for 30 to 50 days. They have 2 -4 babies between January and April. The babies stay in a den under rocks , fallen tree or in a hollow log. The mother cares for them for 7 -8 months. The young are fully mature at the age of 3 years old. The wolverine will live up to 10 years old and sometimes live to 15 -18 years old. A baby wolverine is called a kit.
Relatives A wolverine is in the mustelidae family A wolverine has relatives called weasels, this is a picture of a weasel. Wolverines have more relatives called stoats, ferrets, badgers, otters, mink and polecats.
Size Wolverines can get up to 1 meter in length. They can weigh up to 30 kg. Wolverines are very brave and they can tackle down a grizzly bear!!!
Diet In winter wolverines scavenge dead animals(carion), while in summer their diet consists mainly smaller animals such as marmots, porcupines, hares and ground squirrels.
Facts Did you know that wolverines have a stink gland, as all their family do. (mustelidae) They have really sharp claws and teeth. They are a darkish brown colour. They may look cute but they can kill things 10 times their size. They have the strongest jaw for their size in the whole world!
