WLTP Sub Group EV 25 th IWG WLTP
WLTP Sub Group EV 25 th IWG WLTP Meeting, Geneva, January 8 th, 2019
WLTP Sub Group EV Agenda, January 8 th 1. Handling of low powered EVs (HEVs and PEVs) within GTR 15 2. WLTP Low Temp Test 3. Definition of peripheral devices and its effect on the hybrid vehicle definition 4. Drafting issues 5. Topics in cooperation with IWG EVE 6. Discussion of WLTP SG EV meeting schedule until 26 th IWG WLTP meeting in Croatia Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 2
WLTP Sub Group EV Overview issues to be discussed in 2019 System Power (EVE) Drafting Issues (WLTP) Handling of Low Powered EVs (WLTP) Subgroup EV Low Temp Test for EVs (WLTP) What is a hybrid? (WLTP) EV Durability (EVE) Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 3
WLTP Sub Group EV Handling of low Powered EVs by GTR 15 - Low Powered EVs are covered by GTR 15 - It is clear which cycles (e. g. cycle class) and procedures those cars need to follow and which driving modes need to be selected for testing - But: - As there are more and more EV concepts coming into the development, questions may be raising if the currently described text is taking care in an appropriate way of all concepts which are in the pipeline - E. g. what about PEVs which have a small electric motor and cannot go beyond 70 kph? Are they appropriatly covered by the procedures and the values coming out of the procedure? Task: § Discussion in IWG WLTP if IWG supports to discuss that topic within WLTP SG EV § If necessity is seen: further discussion in WLTP SG EV and providing a feedback until 26 th IWG WLTP Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 4
WLTP Sub Group EV Low temperature test for electrified vehicles - In Low Temp TF meeting on 19 th/20 th of November 2018, it has been agreed that TF needs to prepare a document as an overview which summarizes all the open point where a discussion is needed on - This document should contain all open points both pure ICE vehicles and electrified vehicles - This document (when finalized) is the basis for constructive further discussions and should help in avoiding double work and discussions (within Low Temp TF and WLTP Subgroup EV) - Further discussion should base on that document which makes it easier to coordinate the work packages - Document is available since end of December and still needs input from WLTP Subgroup EV members (not provided yet but will be done as soon as possible – deadline? ) Tasks: § Further discussions within Subgroup EV required in next months (in close contact with Low Temp TF) Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 5
WLTP Sub Group EV “What is a hybrid? ” - Amendment of the definition of “peripheral devices” in MR 2 and GTR 15 Working documents for GRPE in Geneva, January 2019 - But still discussions ongoing on - “what is a hybrid? ” and - “which vehicles should fall under the current description? ” - EC prepared an informal document to amend the working document for GRPE, Geneva, January 2019 - Exchange before Christmas 2018 on that topic and common understanding that there is more discussion necessary to fix the issue and that a lot of questions needs to be answered - WLTP Subgroup EV members will support the group working on that topic in the future Tasks: § Further discussions within the next months Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 6
WLTP Sub Group EV Drafting issues - WLTP is in force or coming into force in a lot of countries and therefore a lot of manufacturers and type approval authorities are gaining experience with the procedure and the text describing the procedure - WLTP Subgroup EV leading team is asking WLTP Subgroup EV members for providing feedback if issues had been occurred where an update of GTR 15 is necessary (e. g. a misleading description in the text which is confusing more than making clear what is meant) - What issue had been identified? - What is a possible solution? - What is the justification? - WLTP Subgroup EV leading team is offering to collect the points - Upcoming WLTP Subgroup EV meetings will give a floor for discussion these topics Tasks: § Further discussions within the next months Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 7
WLTP Sub Group EV System Power Determination (in collaboration with IWG EVE) - IWG EVE is currently working on a regulatory body for system power determination of hybrid electric vehicles - GRPE proper in June 2018 made the decision to set up a separate system power GTR - A validation program is running in parallel to the drafting process; validation program with intention to prove that the two methodologies included in the ISO standard are leading to the same results; final results of validation test are still in evaluation; results just arrived for IWG EVE meeting during GRPE in January 2019 - Results up to know show high test to test variations, but not finally discussed discussion required on further proceeding in EVE meeting on January GRPE feedback: § decision to have a separate system power GTR Feedback WLTP Subgroup EV: § Members of WLTP Subgroup EV will continue the exchange with IWG EVE group Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 8
WLTP Sub Group EV Durability of electrified vehicles (in collaboration with IWG EVE) § No discussion of this topic in WLTP Subgroup EV since last GRPE in June 2018 § Topic which needs to be discussed in upcoming WLTP SG EV meetings § Reminder 1: § Durability requirements in discussion for electrified vehicles (“durability requirement matrix”) (Link on EVE folder: https: //wiki. unece. org/download/attachments/54429231/EVE-25 -03 -Rev 2 e. pdf? api=v 2) § Link is to a Table being discussed with in IWG EVE and containing durability requirements on electrified vehicles for criteria emissions, for fuel consumption and electric energy consumption and for range § Reminder 2: § EV related durability topics in WLTP are decided to be discussed within WLTP Subgroup EV Feedback WLTP Subgroup EV: § Durability for electrified vehicles should evaluated from a complete vehicles perspective § Members of WLTP Subgroup EV will continue the exchange with IWG EVE group Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 9
WLTP Sub Group EV Next meetings Meetings need to be scheduled until upcoming 26 th IWG WLTP meeting in Croatia Following topics need to be covered by upcoming meetings: § Low Temp § Durability § Drafting topics to amend GTR 15 § If request by IWG WLTP: Handling of low powered EVs within GTR 15 Status: 08 th January 2019 Leading Team WLTP Subgroup on EV 10
