Wlastimil Hofman foi um pintor polons do movimento

Wlastimil Hofman foi um pintor polonês, do movimento simbolista, um dos mais populares do período entre guerras e pós-guerra. Nasceu em Karlin, perto de Praga, em 27 de abril de 1881. Em 1889 mudou-se para Kraków, na Polônia onde estudou no “St Barbara’s School” e depois no “Jan III Sobieski”. Em 1896, entrou para a “Academy of Fine Arts” em Kraków. Em 1899 foi estudar pintura na “École des Beaux-Arts” em Paris. Em 1902 fez sua primeira exposição na "Sztuka". Seguiram-se outras em Munique, Armsterdã, Roma, Berlim, Praga, Viena e Self-Portrait with a Flower, 1913 Varsóvia. No período de 1914 -1920 viveu em Praga e Paris, retornando a Kraków em 1921. Em setembro de Em 1907, Hofman foi o primeiro pintor polonês a se tornar 1939, Hofman fugiu da invasão nazista por causa de sua esposa que era judia. Durante a Segunda membro da “Gallery of the Vienna Secession”. Guerra Mundial, viveu na União Soviética, Turquia e Palestina. Em 1942, publicou um livro de poesias chamado “Through Darkness to Freedom”. Voltou a Kraków em junho de 1946. No período entre 1953 -1963, ele produziu pinturas religiosas para a igreja local e muitos retratos de pessoas e autorretratos. Em 1961 foi condecorado com a “Cross of the Order of the Polish Renaissance”. Wlastimil Hofman faleceu no dia 6 de março de 1970.
