WJEC DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY Resistant Materials Technology DYLUNIO A THECHNOLEG CBAC Defnyddiau Gwrthiannol The following slides are exemplar CAT pages from the set briefs for 2015. BRIEF 1: PORTABLE FURNITURE Popular outdoor leisure activities such as camping and caravanning call for items of furniture that are light and transportable. Design a compact item of furniture that can be easily folded or disassembled when not in use. Ease of storage and transportation is an essential element of this Brief and solutions that remain rigid when not in use will not be acceptable. BRIEF 2: ECO-FRIENDLY SCHOOLS Schools are increasingly aware of the need to become more eco-friendly through measures such as reducing waste, recycling and addressing environmental issues. Design a presentation trophy that could be awarded to a pupil or a group of pupils for their outstanding contribution to improving sustainability within their school. The finished product should embody theme of sustainability and combine a range of different materials. BRIEF 3: PULL-ALONG TOY Design a pull-along toy to be used by young children. The toy should include a mechanism that creates movements as the toy is pulled along. 2015
