Tribal Music & Memory Project Goals • Provide a way to give joy to people with dementia and their caregivers • Enhance engagement and socialization • Increase verbal communication • Increase caregiver sense of preparedness and wellbeing • Decrease caregiver burden • Reduce behavior management issues • Delay admission into a nursing home 9

Outcomes • 28 tribal members enrolled from seven tribes • 68 community education programs with 670 attendees • Three caregiver conferences with 407 attendees Feedback from a participant to a tribal volunteer: “I really enjoy the music. That was the best thing anyone could have given me. ” 12
Outcomes (Continued) Susan is a participant in the Music & Memory Project. She received her i. Pod and music in early March 2016. Her daughter shared the following story: "We believe the music has helped her greatly just in this short amount of time. " 13
Sustainability • Music equipment will stay with families after the grant. • Tribal Dementia Care Specialists and tribal liaisons can continue to connect with families. • Alzheimer’s Association will continue to provide community education programs in these areas. 14
