Council Actions Requested • Place a moratorium on the approval of new cell towers Vote of non-confidence in Guelph, Dec. 16, 2013 Passed a motion asking Industry Canada to place a moratorium on the approval of any new radiocommunication facilities until such time as the review of Safety Code 6 has been finalized. Similar motions passed in Thorold and Oakville, ON

Council Actions Requested • Recognize ES Electrosensitivity Recognize that some individuals are more susceptible to harm from wireless radiating devices. During the 2009 review of Safety Code 6, the only significant change was Health Canada quietly dropped this line from the code: “Certain members of the general public may be more susceptible to harm from RF and microwave exposure. ”

CRINS oversees the public consultation process, and assists municipalities in evaluating proposed tower applications and presenting their concerns to the proponents and Industry Canada. Membership is at no cost to municipalities.
