CALIPSOplus Joint Research Activities JRA 1 - Metrology On One-Nanometre-Precise Optics (Moo. Npics) WP leaders H. Sinn (m, European XFEL) and E. Ploenjes (f, DESY) • Development of metrology on diffraction limited X-ray optics up to single-nanometer figure error and 20 nrad rms slope error precision • Particular focus on long mirror (up to 1 m) • Collaboration with ZEISS and Winlight X • Development of software for focal spot reconstruction and fast mirror alignment to cope with spot sizes reached with these ultra-high performance optics JRA 2 - Demonstrator of a Photon Science Analysis Service (Daa. S) WP leaders M. van Daalen (f, PSI) and A. Goetz (m, ESRF) • Development of demonstrators for remote data analysis for some selected archetypal experiments • Demonstrators to be implemented at the individual facilities • Web portal to ensure users to have a common user experience • particularly interesting for experiments generating large data volumes 2 nd Meeting of European User Offices 2016 Mitglied der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft Dr. Barbara Schramm | FSPP | www. hzdr. de

CALIPSOplus NA 1 - User tools for access and data management : Budget 295'275 € (32’ 000 travel money) Data management plan Defining data ownership, data curation, data archiving and open access to data based on the data policies of the individual partners From first part of 2017 the following activities will be financed for umbrella. ID: - Promotion of umbrella. ID and the unified access platform. - Coordinated development of umbrella. ID extensions, i. e. connection to ORCID and other infrastructures such as supercomputing centers. - Technical helpdesk for the users of umbrella. ID and its attached systems (e. g. Moonshot, i. CAT). - Maintenance of the website of the umbrella. ID collaboration. - Close connection to RDA, FIM 4 R and AARC projects.

Description of work JRA 2 Task 1 ESRF Task 2 PSI • Design a platform which satisfies the requirements for Remote Data Analysis as a Service. • Package and deploy data analysis packages for at least two Use Cases / site Task 5 DESY • Gather remote data analysis requirements from typical users and test data for the use cases selected i. e. SAXS, Tomography, Diffraction (including MX). • Implement Daa. S on the local platform at the each site with remote access to compute and storage resources using dedicated hardware Task 3 ESRF resources supplied by each site • Extend and deploy the Umbrella authentication Task 6 PSI system as the standard authentication mechanism to fully support different non-web-based authentication mechanisms to be able to service a broader range of facilities (edu. Gain + JISC Assent) with differing needs and capabilities. • Test data analysis software for Use Cases with test Task 4 CELLS • Design and implement Remote Data Analysis as a Service portal demonstrator Task 7 Elettra data and users Page 15
