Supplemental Ventilation System(SVS) SVS Startup in early January • Provides sufficient airflow to support mining and waste emplacement activities • Designed to provide additional 130, 000 CFM of airflow in the WIPP underground www. energy. gov/EM 7
Resumption of Mining Panel 8 Restarted January 15 • Additional disposal rooms need to be mined in parallel with emplacement in Panel 7 • Slow, deliberate approach will be followed to ensure safe operations • Mining began in 2013, but was halted following 2014 events • Completion of Panel 8 scheduled for 2020 www. energy. gov/EM 8
