Winterbourne Medieval Barn The Barn will have an exhibition/interpretation zone in the South Range and will be equipped with enhanced, multi-directional lighting as well as improved flooring and partial heating. Current Position • Detailed design proposals being finalised and we are going out to tender in October for physical refurbishment programme • We have just appointed a Community Engagement Officer to take forward the Activity Plan • We anticipate that the physical work will take approx. 12 months and the majority of the site will be closed • We are aiming to run some activities • Currently we anticipate reopening in 2020 (Spring)
Lessons Learnt • Detailed design takes longer than anticipated • Funding is difficult in these days of low interest rates • The HLF process is extremely helpful in ensuring that the project covers all relevant activities and ensures that the project is sustainable • Take all offers of help – we have had tremendous support, and the consultants provided as part of HLF funding have been invaluable • The need to keep all stakeholders involved takes an immense amount of time
