Winter Driving Tips! ¡ ¡ Allow Extra Time when roads are icy and snow packed. If going on a trip, notify someone of your departure time and estimated time of arrival. Give plenty of room for vehicles in front of you, at least 3 x the amount you would normally allow. Watch for black ice.

Winter Driving Tips! Keep your lights and windshield clean. ¡ Only start driving when you have a fully cleaned windshield and lights. ¡

Winter Driving Tips! If you are going on a long trip, check your route for weather condistions. ¡ Check for closed roads. ¡ If routes are closed, think twice about going. It might be safer to stay home. ¡ Keep an emergency kit handy. Include: ¡ l Blankets, food, water, first aid kit, cell phone.

Winter Driving Tips! If you begin to skid do the following: ¡ Take your foot off the accelerator ¡ DO NOT slam on the brakes ¡ Stay calm and steer in the direction you want to go.
