Company Cadibon Collio • • Company CADIBON Company is managed by the family Bon: Ameris, Gianni, Luca and Francesca who, while continuing the teachings and experiences of their ancestors, have made every effort of renewal in the vineyards aimed at achieving quality and typicality. Their only purpose is to present the consumer with accurate and unique picture of their production, called for loyalty to traditional Friulian dialect voice "Cà di Bon" which means "Here in farm of Bon”. • • The estate covers an area of ten hectares planted with white and red grapes, distributed in three different areas of DOC, 11 hectares of property: on hills of Corno "Colli Orientali del Friuli", in the plain surrounding the "Grave del Friuli" and beyond the river Judrio "Collio". The soils are thin but ideal for vines as hampering the quantity and enhance the quality producing grapes balanced in sugar and in acid, rich in extracts and aromas.

The Company La Magnolia Collio Orientale • • • • • The Company Over forty years ago, Guido Cozzarolo, the founder, planted the first cuttings (now model vineyards) in the soil adjacent to the villa of eighteenth century which is the headquarter of the company whose garden has a majestic century-old magnolia with white and fragrant flowers. The Magnolia Company has now more than 20 hectares of in fee land three-quarters of that are vineyards. The modern equipped winery produces 1000 hl of valuable and appreciated white and red wines, all of them (except Franconia) are a designation of origin Colli Orientali del Friuli, production of 170, 000 bottles per year. The winemaking techniques are basically the same as those passed down from generation to generation even though they are reinterpreted thanks to the current enology. Located in the hills it has a surface area of 10 hectares. Edi Kante, completed agricultural studies with a particular interest in the nursery sector, distillation, plant and enology, has always distinguished itself as an innovator even digging in the archives of Carso to catch valuable suggestions. His company is about 13 hectares with a production of 30, 000 to 35, 000 bottles per year, he is the precursor of a natural viticulture and of quality. He breaks the mold in the 80 s of last century, raising the Carso and the great grape varieties of the territory until then overlooked by other producers. Edi Kante was able to reinterpret the wine of its territory, almost abandoned by viticulture, drawing a clear line between past and present, revolutionizing the production. Together with Stanislao Radikon, he reinvents the bottle even starting. . . from the cap! All this according to the wine, the main protagonist of his experiments. To employ the hill cork (not very thick, 21. 5 -22 mm, unable to cork a common bottle neck of 17 mm) but more compact and suitable for storing wine, he decides to create a bottle neck that is very narrow (15 mm). Also considering it better for storage and aging wine in size of one liter, he manufactured the molds for a new bottle, again with Stanislao Radikon whom he studied the project with. The wine is made predominantly on the parings: it is longevity then, the main characteristic of wines together with minerality which derives from the land from the individual characteristics of the grapes. In Friuli, Collio, and Carso there are not so many young people who have chosen to live away from the pack, cutting-and here we say it with no rhetoric-a small space in the history of VINEYARD FRIULI where they live in constant fibrillation. • Edi Kante is a good guy, the iron will, stubborn and hard as a rock as he started to fight when he dressed with sailor suit. Her love and hate relationship with Carso rock is even "fanatical" and the daily competition created - in the media- a symbol and emblem; in young winemakers who live every day at his side EDI is indisputable LIDER MAXIMO, listened and imitated. An athletic physique - lucky him -as a basketball player Edi is a force of nature in perpetual motion. Walls are formed from rock, net of various cements and plaster and with a film of water to cover it, as can be seen among stalactites, in the caves of Postojna, Giant etc. . Edi Kante has made Carso well-known to the world of wine connoisseurs: this is an honor that he deserves and that he has earned among its vineyards. The "Carso" is beautiful, extraordinary, unique for its white rocks, for its bright colors, for its red soil. Walking in autumn, when the sumac shrub becomes vermilion, is one of the most beautiful natural emotions that you may know. The microclimate of the "Carso" combines the influence of the sea, which is under there, protected by limestone reef that rises from the Adriatic and still manages to let us feel its warmth, and the strength of a continental climate that sometimes can be impetuous with winds of Bora and Tramontana that keep the air clear and dry. Certainly the "Carso” is appealing, but in terms of agricultural it is a difficult land, rugged, dry, sullen. But where the vineyard most suffers, there the wines are sublime. The history of the "Carso" is linked to its most representative wine: the "Terrano. " Its origins come to the Romans; maybe it was called "Pucino" a wine so loved - and drunk - by Livia, second wife of Augustus, as well as praised by Pliny the Elder. It's still part of the great family of "Refosco" perhaps the oldest cultivated grape in Friuli. Here, on the "Italian Carso", we call it "Terrano", while in Istria becomes "Refošk. " The dispute about its origins is something that has still to be solved but we think it will be soon clarified.

Its color is blood, its tones are fruity. Traditionally and before the arrival of the great interpreters like Kante, it was a wine sour, bitter, of a very short life, suitable for cooking pork dishes of Carso cooking; like the jelly which is eaten at Easter. A wine grumpy but fascinating as the land that gave its birth. Edi has ennobled it without depriving it of his strong personality. Edi is also fond of another native wine, a white that he has contributed decisively to safeguard: "the Vitovska", a slender white wine, but well structured, cheeky and very nice. But we especially like to mention another native wine that Edi produces as "Istrian Malvasia", after the very close land from which it derives. A fruit-toned white that becomes sweet and mellow and spicy, great wine to accompany baked fishes with the aroma of the "Carso". Finally, two classics: the "Sauvignon" and "Chardonnay. In “Sauvignon "Kante plays freely among lush tones of" Sauvignon " and those muffled of the barrel, creating an interesting and personal harmony of aromas and flavors. The" Chardonnay "is more demanding, has a decided taste tone with a long aromatic persistence. Last note: the new cellar, that is all dug in Carso rocks, and therefore is ideal for aging in barrels and bottled, should be visited. It has a circular shape with the central columns and gives feelings that no longer exist: it creates emotions. • • KANTE : MY VITOVSKA The Vitovska is a white grape popular in the nearby province of Trieste and Slovenia (in the territories that constituted the real province of Trieste before World War II). Its name originated in Slovenia, presumably derives from the village of Vitolje. The periods of germination, flowering and ripening are medium-early. The cluster is pyramid-shaped, winged, medium-size and compact. The berries are spherical, green. The pulp is juicy and colorless, taste is neutral. From its white vinified grapes it is produced a dry wine that is fresh fruity and vinous, with hints of William pear, and sometimes of sage. The color is pale straw yellow, slightly sour and fruity taste, good body. • In the past Vitovska was mainly used in blends with other local white grapes such as Malvasia; recently (or rather, since he was elevated to the rank of CARSO DOC. . ) some manufacturers have "tried" getting the mono-grape vinification with appreciable results. The Vitovska goes well with light appetizers and seafood. Since Edi Kante favors the fruitfulness instead of structure, the gustative complexity instead of immediacy of perfumes, the aging instead of "ready to drink”, we do not exclude that among its VITOVSKA and other tasted there may also be significant differences.
