EVAPORATION: This is when the sun heats up the water in rivers, lakes or the ocean and turns in to vapour or steam CONDENSATION: Water vapour in the air gets cold and changes back in to liquid forming clouds. PRECIPITATION: This happens when so much water has condensed that the air can not hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to earth in the form of rain, hail or snow SURFACE RUN OFF: Rain, snow melt, or other water that flows in surface streams, rivers, or canals. COLLECTION: When water falls back to earth as precipitation, it may fall back in to the oceans, lakes or rivers or it may end up on land. When it falls on the land, it will either soak in to the earth and become ‘groundwater’ that plants and animals can use to drink.
