Our Purpose We are meeting to prepare our parents and students for the opening of the 2020 -2021 school year and virtual learning.

Norms and Expectations for Virtual Learning
Student Virtual Learning Norms • Log on a few minutes early (no later than 8: 00) • Please turn on your video feature. • Use the chat to ask questions if possible. • Mute your device when you are not speaking. • Ask questions during the appropriate portions. • When speaking, keep your points clear and concise. • Be intentional to engage as a learner. • Remain present. • Take risks and have fun!
Learning Space The student’s learning space should be free from distractions, quiet, well-lit, and comfortable. It should contain all necessary textbooks, workbooks and supplies for learning.
Parent Responsibility It is recommended that parents be prepared to support their child’s learning each day by planning to be available whenever they need assistance if possible. This will ensure that learning will be supported by both the teacher and the adult present within the home setting.
Parent Expectations • Monitoring your child’s work time to ensure they are spending the appropriate amount of time completing the daily assignments. • Ensuring your child is spending adequate time on the courses and is progressing each day through the prescribed instructional activities. • Reading all of the classroom expectations and procedures. • Avoiding the interruption of instruction, if you have a question or concern, please contact your child’s teacher to setup a conference. • Ensuring your child takes breaks according to the schedule. • Assisting your child with becoming computer literate (basic keyboarding- recommended typing. com)

Virtual School Hours Monday-Friday 8: 00 a. m. -3: 00 p. m. on Microsoft TEAMS
SEL Support Our Professional School Counselor, Mrs. Hodges, will offer socialemotional-learning support. Homeroom teachers will also offer SEL support each day during morning meetings.
Exceptional Children and IEP Support CLUE, Instructional Resource, Speech All students with IEPs will be provided with services and accommodations that are agreed upon by the IEP team.

Synchronous and Asynchronous Instruction Students will engage in both synchronous (learning at the same time in realtime) and asynchronous (learning at different times through channels and independent study) instruction during school hours.
What will the st 1 day of school look like? Teachers will begin to build their classroom communities using various getting to know you activities while helping students become more comfortable using the Microsoft Teams platform.

Attendance Requirements
Student Attendance Student attendance will be monitored by the teacher every morning beginning at 8: 15 a. m. and recorded in Power School by our General Office Secretary. If a student is not logged on and present in their assigned teacher’s Microsoft TEAMs virtual classroom by 8: 30 a. m. , they are considered Tardy. Students not logged in for an entire school day will be considered absent. In the instance of a student absence, please submit an excuse note via email to your child’s teacher within 48 hours of the absence. If there are issues with the internet or computer, you must inform the teacher immediately via telephone/Google Voice or email for attendance review.

Meal Pick-up
Breakfast and Lunch Breakfast and lunch meal packs will be provided for 5 days and will include preparation instructions if necessary. The cafeteria will accommodate special diets for students per current diet prescription. Meals will be available for curb-side in the front parking lot. -Thursday 9: 00 a. m. -12: 00 p. m. -Thursday 1: 00 p. m. -5: 00 p. m. -Friday 7: 00 a. m. -9: 00 a. m.
Lunch Time All students will have a 30 minute lunchtime in their daily schedule. Students are not required to be on the computer during this time. If the computer has not been charged, please use this time to recharge.
