Wiki Argumentative Essay A wiki is a collaborative
Wiki Argumentative Essay A wiki is a collaborative online learning environment for students and sometimes instructors, which combines a combination of text and visual evidence.
What Is a Wiki Essay? For this wiki, you will be creating an argumentative essay which will combine text and images/photographs or videos to argue your stance on a current debatable topic. Although each of you will have an individual wiki page, all of your classmates will be able to view your wiki essay.
Selecting Topics for the Wiki Argumentative Essay: Structurally, for the wiki essay, you must first decide on your topics for the writing assignment. Your argumentative essay’s topic must relate to one of the following areas: Family Education LGBT Rights Feminism Race Sexuality Addiction Religion Healthcare Psychological/Medical Treatments Child/Adolescent Welfare Economy Violence Warfare Government Policies All of these topics relate to many of our past and future literary works!
WIKI ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY--ASSIGNMENT 1: Annotated Bibliography: For your first assignment, you will be required to create an annotated bibliography which will have three sources. These sources will later be used as evidence for your wiki argumentative essay. On the annotated bibliography, you will use MLA (Modern Language Association) format to provide the publication information and a summary/annotation for each source. RESEARCH: For the annotated bibliography, you will find three textual sources, such as web articles—database or website, hard copy newspaper or magazine articles, books, pamphlets, etc.
WIKI ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY--ASSIGNMENT 2: Argumentative Essay Outline: The second assignment is a rough draft of the argumentative essay, which will be submitted in the structure of an in-depth outline. You will be using an outline template to create a version of your argumentative essay with sub-headings. This outline will be completed using Microsoft Word or Google Docs. RESEARCH: You will be required to credit—through quoting or paraphrasing—at least five textual sources in your argumentative essay outline. One of your textual sources should be one of our readings from this semester (a quote from this literary work can be used as an introductory or concluding technique); your other textual sources can be web articles—database or website, hard copy newspaper or magazine articles, books, pamphlets, etc. Also, you will be required to create a Works Cited page for these five sources in MLA format.
WIKI ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY--ASSIGNMENT 3: Wiki Argumentative Essay: For the final assignment, you will use the editing suggestions that I offered on your argumentative essay outline and transition your outline into an argumentative essay which you paste onto a wiki page. RESEARCH: You will be required to credit—through quoting or paraphrasing—at least five textual sources. One of your textual sources should be one of our readings from this semester (a quote from this literary work can be used as an introductory or concluding technique); your other textual sources can be web articles—database or website, hard copy newspaper or magazine articles, books, pamphlets, etc. You will also be required to have three visual sources (images/photographs or videos). Also, you will be required to create a Works Cited page for these all of the textual and visual sources in MLA format.
Research Style Format: The wiki essay will be structured in MLA (Modern Language Association) format. Please reference the “MLA Punctuation and Documentation” packet for more information on citing your research within the body of your essay as well on its Works Cited page.
