Interlock boxes • Interlock boxes are placed on or close to each magnet to collect all input signals. • For maintenance purpose, a remote test feature is implemented (by means of a relay) in order to simulate the opening of any input signal. • This operation can be done remotely and allow us to check periodically the MPE Technical Meeting, 14 JULY 2016 installation during shutdowns. 4

ELENA, Antimatter and Angels&Demons MPE Technical Meeting, 14 JULY 2016 - ELENA will be used to decelerate antiprotons coming from the AD with a beam energy of 5. 3 Me. V - ELENA will decelerate down to a few ke. V beam energy at which the antiprotons will be ‘trapped’ to make anti hydrogen atoms (=antimatter) -The aim is to study the antimatter in the different experiments like ATRAP, ALPHA, AEGIS and ASACUSA In the film Angels&Demons this canister is stolen from a secret laboratory at CERN. It contains one gram of antimatter and is to be used as a devastating weapon. But what is antimatter? 10 http: //angelsanddemons. web. cern. ch/antimatter/making-antimatter
