WHY What is praxis What do they believe
WHY
What is praxis? What do they believe? • Their core belief is that genuine learning demands a meaningful context. You have to be doing things and dealing with real-world challenges for knowledge to actually stick. They call it the practice-practice theory process. Theories and ideas are great, but they don’t do much good until and unless you have real, skin-inthe game practice already underway. You don’t learn to ride a bike just by reading about it, and you don’t learn skills for professional success through lectures. • Praxis isn’t a static list of content to consume. Praxis is work experience + a live, vibrant community of learners + individual coaching + project based mastery.
What is difference between praxis and college? • The Praxis education experience is unique in that it does not disconnect regular content consumption from regular content creation. • Rather than, for example, studying for an entire semester to be able to pass a midterm and a final, Praxis participants tie each act of learning to a deliverable act of creation at least once every thirty days. Rather than producing infrequently in a structured classroom setting, Praxis participants produce in the real world and for real people outside of school. • This is a large divergence from the way we’re taught to learn growing up.
What is difference between praxis and college? • Students today spend years in college “preparing” for the day they’re finally “qualified” to apply their knowledge, only to graduate on the other side with nothing but a hodgepodge of memorized facts and very little knowledge of how to translate that into a productive life for themselves. • While the Praxis education program is custom tailored to my needs and goals. Rather than following a set syllabus, I will work with an advisor to determine my learning goals, build a plan, and “ship” those goals in the form of a concrete project every single month. • I will graduate with a portfolio of these projects and the skills and experience I need to continue along a path of lifelong learning.
How does praxis work? Why do businesses want to work with praxis graduates • If you can prove your capabilities with evidence, a degree won’t matter. Employers are looking for someone that can provide value to their business. The degree is a very basic signal for this and with the age of technology, you can build a much better one yourself. Praxis teaches you how to identify your most valuable skills and translate them into something tangible.
Example • Person A: I graduated from Boise State University with a degree in computer science and I’ve loved computers since I was a kid. I’m great at working on a team and I’m responsible. My greatest weakness is that I’m a perfectionist. • That’s all great and important, but consider how clear the value proposition is compared to this applicant. • Person B: Ever since I was young, computers fascinated me and I was always trying to figure out how they worked. When I finally picked up coding, I swear I didn’t come out of my room for 3 days because I was so lost in it. Since then, I’ve designed websites for two different companies, had an app published, and wrote code for a motion tracking software. I’ve attached links to these projects below for you to check out.
Outcome • Person B is much more effective, and they didn’t even mention a degree! At that point, the value this person could provide outweighs the value of a third party credential, and Praxis business partners know that. • Praxis is focused on showing rather than telling.
Where is Praxis? • The answer might surprise you. Unlike many similar programs that are limited to a few locations, Praxis is national (soon to be global). They have business partners all around the country in most of the major business hubs. • Think cities like Chicago, Pittsburgh, Austin, Dallas, Charlotte, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Salt Lake City. • They’ve picked cities like these because they offer participants not only the widest selection of fast growing businesses in the country, but also a location where they can grow and develop themselves as young people outside the workplace. Networking opportunities, conferences, social events, and more are
Where is Praxis? • The 6 th month bootcamp at the beginning of the program however is done remotely, so I can continue to work and live at home until I am partnered with a business.

So what’s the cost? • Tuition for the full program is $12, 000 while earnings during the apprenticeship come out to $14, 400 or more, so you walk away with a net gain of $2, 400. • They’ve structured the payment plans to be as affordable as possible, and their goal is for me to graduate from Praxis debt free with a ton of options for the future. Here are the payment plans: • Plan 1: $12, 000 upon confirmation • Plan 2: $5, 800 upon confirmation, 12 monthly payments of $600 once you start the program ($13 k total) • Plan 3: $4, 000 upon confirmation, 6 monthly payments of $1, 000 once you start the program followed by 6 monthly payments of $600 ($13. 6 k total)
So What’s The Cost? • Additionally, when moving to another city, it is my responsibility to pay for living and commuting. However, the Praxis team helps you with this process to allow you to live as efficiently as possible. • With all of that said, comparatively to a four-year degree, it is less expensive. • And understanding that I am more financially responsible that most people my age, I know I could finish the program debt free.
Dear Mom & Dad • I love you, and I think for supporting me no matter what I decide to do, I’ve had a lot of ideas go through my head and you know I can make it on any path I choose to take. For that, I say thank you from the bottom of my heart. • If you’ve listened to my podcast episodes and reflected on my past comments and desires to become an Entrepreneur, you know the idea of that genuinely excites me to my core. • I believe my core values and desire for my life are parallel to the vision Praxis has. • I see it as an amazing opportunity to make use of the resources out there and learn how to build a company
Dear Mom & Dad • I knew college was not the path I wanted to take, so I decided I want to take action and build something of my own. I also realized that I have a lot to learn to make that happen. However, through these past few months I have also solidified the fact that college isn’t the educational experience that would equip me to bring my dreams to fruition. • So I was left in this wishy-washy place, trapped inside thoughts of countless opportunities and possibilities but with a lack of know-how. So I did some digging to find the educational experience that I longed for, and it actually existed. Every facet of Praxis checks all my boxes. It truly is a path I want to take. It’s the bridge between the desires I
Dear Mom & Dad • With that said, I think it would be crazy not to at least try to see what type of fruit this opportunity could bear. • Now, at this point, I have made it through a 5 -day application process. Which included many different tasks that really revealed a lot about myself to me. I was accepted to continue the admission process after that – which only 30% of applicants do. Now I am preparing for a skype interview which will be recorded and the entire praxis review board will watch it and ultimately decide if I make it in. • So I haven’t made it in yet, but if I do, I really want to take this opportunity to grow.
Thank you • Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Praxis, something that really excites me. I hope you see the value in it, and how parallel it is to my hopes and dreams. • You are both amazing individuals, I look up to you, and I hope you decide to support me in this potential opportunity. • I love you.
