Why Engineering with Business? • The ME (Engineering with Business) is designed to produce fully qualified engineers who have a particular interest in and understanding of the business context within which engineers usually operate. • All – – – businesses comprise 3 elements: Finance – who will fund me? Marketing – who will buy? Operations – how do I produce and deliver? • Organizations need engineers to – Innovate to design new products and services – Manage and optimise processes and minimise waste – Analyse the operations and identify and implement continuous improvement – Develop feasible financial plans, and manage capital and operational spending – Match technology innovation to customer requirements
