WHO DISCOVERED EVEREST? BY SALSABEEL YASIR
Who was sir Edmund Percival Hillary? Sir Edmund Percival Hillary was born in 1919 in a small farming town of Tuakau in New Zealand. In 1945 he got a love for mountaineering in the southern alps. A few years later a Himalaya explorer Eric Shipton decided to take a group to the unexplored part of the Himalayas, mount Everest. Edmund was one of the people who decided to participate.
How did he discover Everest When his group worked out their route they began their mission. It took sir Edmund at least 7 weeks to climb mount Everest. When the group got there they stayed there for 15 minuets. When they got back it was the coronation day of queen Elizabeth who congratulated sir Edmund on being the first to climb Everest.
