Whiplash Car crash scene Aaron Jones

1 - Straight close up shot of the time on the dashboard of the car indicating that in this particular scene, time is an important factor and that the character related to it has some sort of short deadline to be back by.

2 - Low angle shot of a car abruptly stopping to indicate that the character is in a rush. I dont think this impacts the narrative too much other than the fact that it carries on the vibe of urgency.

3 - Again straight close up shot of the time on the dashboard of the car indicating that 7 minutes has passed and he is still in a rush to retreive what he has forgotten and get back in time.

4 - Mid close up shot of the package in the foreground and the characters legs which are blurred in the middleground. The reason the characters legs are blurred is because the director wants us to focus on what's in the foreground but still know that he is there.

5 - Mid long shot of the protagonist rushing back to his car with the package, again I think this is used as filler to help the story along as well as keeping the feeling of urgency.

6/7 - More filler shots to indicate urgency and carry the story from A to Z - Close up of back tyre and Mid shot of the side of the car.

8 - Close up from the right side of his face showing unease, concentration and also determination all at the same time. Using his phone while driving also indicating recklessness.

9 - From the last shot it pans quickly from a close up of his face to a mid shot of a satnav which has just told him to stop up ahead, but he isnt listening because he is on the phone. This could raise the characters recklessness and worry levels even higher.

10 - From the sat nav shot it pans quickly back to the close up of his face still on his phone and still in a visually aggravated state - All of the build up of emotions is keeping the audience on the edge of there seat and making them want to know what happens next.

11 - The protagonist then puts down the phone with the camera panning downwards at the same time, creating a brief close up of the phone still indicating the sense of urgency and panic.

12 - The camera then pans directly back up very quickly revealing a profile shot of a visually worried and shaken protagonist in the wake of a fast moving truck about to collide with his car.
